Hello, I hope everyone is having a marvelous Monday!

       So last week I found myself asking “why do we need the law?”, well luckily for me that’s what we explored this week!

       So. Why DO we need the law?

        Having laws are VERY important to our society. Laws help prevent conflict between others such as disagreements and negotiations. Law’s are important to individuals and society because they help with protecting our rights and provide us with freedom. As well as protecting the safety of people and creating rules of conduct.

        With knowledge of law you know the rights you are entitled to!

         Here’s an example to where the law comes in use,

          If someone is trespassing your private property without your consent than they are breaking the law. In that situation you would be able to sue them for trespassing causing them to pay a fine from anywhere to $2000!

          There are 3 very important laws to history   

          The first known law dates back to 1750 B.C, it’s called the Code of Hammurabi. This code was created by King Hammurabi in Babylonia, he created roughly 300 laws and engraved them on rock pillars for everyone in the village to see. It was believed that the strong shall not harm the weak. Retribution was very important as well, they believed in “an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth.”

        The next law that created history was the Moses and Mosaic law, this was created once King Hammurabi passed away. In the bible Moses climbs up a mountain to receive the 10 commandments from God. Those 10 commandments along with the Code of Hammurabi were used as the new forms of law. The mosaic law as a lot more strict and often used death as a punishment. An example of a law is “Whoever strikes his father or his mother shall be put to death.”

       Finally there is the Roman law. A foundation of law for Western Europe, other than England. This was not only the beginning of laws similar to what we have today but also the start of lawyers! Roman laws emphasized equity. This means that unlike Mosaic law, law and punishment should be fair to all.
